Unbothered Dating · Private beta
Privacy Notice
Updated October 8, 2026. This notice explains what personal information Unbothered collects, why, who it is shared with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Dating profiles can include sensitive information, so please read it before you sign up.
1. Information we collect
- Account data: email address and a securely hashed password, email-confirmation status and temporary confirmation-token data, invitation used, terms-acceptance and eligibility answers, and account timestamps.
- Profile data you choose to provide: name, age, location description, gender, who you want to meet, relationship goals, interests, personal disclosures, and photos or videos. Some of this can reveal sensitive characteristics such as sexual orientation or lifestyle choices. You decide what to provide, and optional fields may be left blank.
- Location: if you allow it, your device's coordinates, used to calculate distance. Coordinates are stored privately and are not shown to other members.
- Communications: messages you send, and reports, blocks, and feedback you submit, including any details you include.
- Waitlist data: if you join the waitlist, your email address, optional note, and the date you joined. We use it only to send launch emails and invitations, and every email includes a link that deletes your entry.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, request logs, and security events, used to keep the service secure and to limit abuse. We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and protect forms; we do not currently use advertising analytics or referral tracking.
2. How we use information
- to create and run your account and show your profile to other members;
- to calculate and display matches, distance, and discovery results;
- to confirm you can access your email address and send account emails such as confirmation links and password resets;
- to detect and handle abuse, scams, harassment, underage use, and policy violations, including automated screening of messages and, with your consent, photos;
- to review reports and investigate safety concerns; when a member reports an account and provides a reason, the founder reviews the report and may conduct reasonable follow-up research using information available to Unbothered. If warranted, we may use a qualified third-party service provider to assist with a safety investigation and share only information reasonably needed for that purpose, as permitted by law. This is a best-effort process, not an emergency service or a guarantee of safety, and it is not a background check. Unbothered does not currently conduct criminal background checks or identity verification. Any future background-check program would require a separate review, updated notice, and required consent before checks occur;
- to secure the service, debug problems, and improve the beta from feedback;
- to comply with law and respond to valid legal requests.
We do not sell your personal information, do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and do not use your profile or messages to train advertising or marketing models. If we add analytics or referral tracking in the future, we will update this Privacy Notice to explain what is collected, why it is used, which providers receive it, and the choices available before enabling it.
3. Who can see your information
- Other members: signed-in members can see your profile details, media, and approximate distance, subject to blocks. Anything you put in a profile may be screenshotted or shared by others, which we cannot prevent.
- Conversation participants can see messages sent to them.
- The founder and authorized staff may view reports, the reason and details provided, flagged messages, related profile data, conversations tied to a report, and feedback to review and investigate safety concerns and protect the service. If warranted, a qualified third-party service provider may receive the limited information needed to assist with a safety investigation, subject to applicable law.
- Service providers that process data for us: Render (application hosting), Neon (database), Cloudflare R2 (private storage of photos and videos, accessed through short-lived signed links), Resend (account emails), and Sightengine (photo screening, only if you upload a photo and consent). They may process data only for our instructions and as needed to provide their services.
- Authorities and others where we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or is needed to protect the safety of people, to investigate violations, or to protect our rights.
- Successors if the service is merged, sold, or reorganized, subject to this notice.
4. Retention
We keep account, profile, media, and message data while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete your account, profile, media, messages, and feedback from our live systems. We may keep limited records afterward where needed for safety, abuse prevention, security, or legal compliance, such as report records and a record that prevents a removed member from rejoining. Provider backups may retain deleted data for a short period until they expire. Security and request logs are kept for a limited period.
5. Your rights and choices
You can edit or remove profile details at any time, control browser location permission, choose not to upload photos, and delete your account from settings. Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states, the UK, or the EU), you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, portability of, or restriction of use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. To make a request, email unbothereddating@gmail.com from your account email; we may verify your identity before acting and will respond within the time the law requires. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Where we rely on consent (such as photo screening and location), you can withdraw it, though that may limit features.
6. Sensitive information
Information about your orientation, preferences, and lifestyle is sensitive. We process it only to provide the service you request (such as showing relevant matches) and do not use it for advertising or sell it. By providing it you consent to its display to other members as you configure it.
7. Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, private media storage with expiring links, access limited to authorized staff, and rate limits against abuse. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and authorities as required by law.
8. Age limit
Unbothered is only for adults 18 and over and is not directed to children. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will remove it and delete their information. Contact us if you believe this has happened.
9. International processing
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than where you live. By using the service you understand your information may be transferred and processed there with appropriate safeguards where required.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as the service changes, and will notify you of material changes in the service or by email. Questions, requests, or complaints: unbothereddating@gmail.com.
